Sber named as Europe's strongest bank

The annual Brand Finance Europe 500 rating of Sber by the Russian state-run lender has been crowned as the strongest brand among European financial institutions.

Brand Finance, a London-based consultancy, puts 5,000 top names to the test and publishes more than 100 reports, ranking firms across all sectors and countries. The annual Europe ranking of the world's most valuable and strongest European brands features the world's most valuable and strongest European brands.

Brands are strong based on marketing investment, stakeholder equity, and business performance, and shows how well a company invests, develops brand awareness, takes care of its reputation, and establishes customer loyalty, and how efficiently it operates its business.

Sber was also ranked as the fourth most valuable bank in Europe, thanks to HSBC, Santander and Barclays. The Russian banking giant also placed 37th in the Brand value ranking, making it one of the top 40 banks in the world.

Sber was also named as the seventh strongest European brand with a Brand Strength Index score of 88.2/100, ahead of Michelin, Lamborghini and Rolex.
