Seasoned Academic Appointed as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Aga Khan University

The Aga Khan University (AKU) has selected Dr. Tania Bubela as its new Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. Dr. Bubela will also serve as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for AKU in Kenya and Uganda, effective July 1st.

Dr. Bubela brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having previously held academic positions at the Universities of Toronto, Alberta, and Simon Fraser University. Her research has had a significant impact on policy, practice, and clinical translation, engaging both global and community stakeholders.

Prior to her appointment at AKU, Dr. Bubela served as Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University and Associate Dean of Research at the School of Public Health at the University of Alberta. She holds a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Sydney and a Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta.

Dr. Bubela's diverse academic background has enabled her to address significant global challenges, including bio-conservation, sustainability, climate change, and equitable access to knowledge and healthcare. Her appointment aligns with AKU's ongoing expansion drive.
