Barclays Resolves Technical Issues, Joining List of Companies Hit by Disruptions

Barclays has resolved the technical issues that affected its payment systems and banking app since Tuesday evening. The bank has apologized for the disruption, which prevented some UK customers from making or receiving payments.

As of 03:25 GMT, Barclays confirmed that all services have been restored. Earlier reports indicated difficulties logging into the Barclays app and accessing online banking.

A business customer expressed concern on social media, highlighting the severity of the situation and the need for emergency plans in case of prolonged inaccessibility to funds.

Barclays acknowledged the issues and apologized for the inconvenience. The bank serves approximately 20 million customers in the UK and processes over 50 million payments monthly.

This incident follows a series of recent technical disruptions affecting various companies. Last weekend, Sainsbury's canceled deliveries and accepted only cash payments due to an IT problem. Tesco and McDonald's also experienced similar issues, with the latter attributing the outages to a third-party provider.
