HDFC Bank has appointed Sumant Rampal as the new head of its mortgage business, effective March 28, 2024. Rampal succeeds Arvind Kapil, who is leaving to become the Managing Director and CEO of Poonawalla Fincorp.
Rampal has been with HDFC Bank for over two decades, holding various leadership positions in corporate banking, emerging corporate groups, and business banking. Prior to his new role, he was the Group Head of Business Banking Working Capital, Rural Banking Group, and Sustainability Livelihood Initiative.
During his tenure at HDFC Bank, Rampal has made significant contributions to the growth and success of the business. He has played a key role in scaling up operations and implementing digital initiatives. Rampal holds a post-graduation degree from the Symbiosis Institute of International Business, which he completed in 1997.
