Congress Senses Anti-Incumbency Wave in Arunachal Pradesh, Tuki Eyes Victory with Manifesto Promises

Congress Candidate Nabam Tuki Senses Anti-Incumbency Against BJP

Congress candidate for the Arunachal West Lok Sabha seat, Nabam Tuki, believes the people of Arunachal Pradesh are unhappy with the current BJP government and are looking for a change.

Tuki, a former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, cited widespread anti-incumbency and unfulfilled promises as reasons for the public's dissatisfaction. He expressed confidence that the Congress party's manifesto, with its focus on youth, women, and farmers, would resonate with the voters.

"There is anti-incumbency and there is a big question mark on performance as well. Wherever I visited, people expressed displeasure...The promises made by them have not been fulfilled. The public is displeased and is looking for change," Tuki told ANI.

He also addressed the absence of top Congress leadership in the state during the campaign, stating that the party's focus was on states with more Lok Sabha seats.

"There are only 2 Lok Sabha seats here...I thought we should let central leadership work where Lok Sabha seats are higher in numbers, such as in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar," he said.

Tuki will be contesting against the BJP's Kiren Rijiju, who won the seat in both the 2014 and 2019 elections. The Arunachal Pradesh Assembly elections will also be held concurrently with the Lok Sabha elections on April 19, with the counting of votes scheduled for June 4.
