Sanjay Singh; Jail administration denies any special treatment for criminals

## AAP alleges Kejriwal treated like a "terrorist" in Tihar jail, BJP trying to break him

Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh has alleged that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is being treated like a "terrorist" in Tihar jail, while a notorious criminal enjoys special privileges. Singh, who was recently released from the same prison after serving a six-month sentence in a money laundering case, made these claims at a press conference.

He said that Kejriwal was only allowed to meet Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann through a glass screen, while other inmates, including a notorious criminal, are allowed to meet their wives and lawyers inside the barrack. Singh did not name the criminal.

Singh further alleged that the BJP is trying to break Kejriwal due to "malice and vendetta", but he will emerge stronger as a result of the treatment being meted out to him in jail.

Mann, who visited Kejriwal in prison on Monday, also alleged that the AAP national convener was being treated like a "terrorist" and was not getting the amenities that even a hardcore criminal is allowed in Tihar.

Responding to these allegations, Director General (Prisons) Sanjay Baniwal said that no distinction is made in the treatment meted out to the inmates and it is ensured they get the same basic rights.

The Tihar jail administration has not yet responded to Singh's claims.
