## Australia Invests in Critical Minerals Projects

The Australian government is investing heavily in critical minerals projects in Queensland and South Australia, with hundreds of millions of dollars in loans being provided through the Critical Minerals Facility, Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility, and Export Finance Australia.

The Gladstone alumina processing facility in Queensland has been awarded $400 million in loans, while the Siviour Graphite Project in South Australia has received $185 million in conditional loans. Both projects will process critical minerals used in lithium-ion batteries and other renewable technologies.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese sees these investments as key to building a "future made in Australia" with secure jobs in regional areas. He also announced plans for a taxpayer-funded incentive scheme for clean energy projects and advanced manufacturing, aiming to create a new industry in Australia and support local jobs and economic development.

Resources Minister Madeleine King emphasizes the importance of Australia's critical minerals and rare earths in building renewable technologies and other essential industries. She believes these investments will contribute to the country's net-zero emissions goals and position Gladstone as a leader in the critical minerals industry.

The Queensland government has also provided over $51 million in funding for the Gladstone project, demonstrating confidence in the state's potential. Premier Steven Miles sees this project as a significant contributor to clean economy jobs in central Queensland.

The South Australian graphite project is expected to create hundreds of jobs during its construction and operation phases, further boosting the state's economy.

These investments highlight the Australian government's commitment to developing a strong and sustainable future for the country, built on clean energy and advanced manufacturing.
