## Trinamool Congress Releases Manifesto for 2024 Lok Sabha Elections

On April 17, 2024, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) released its manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The manifesto, titled "Vision for a New India," outlines the party's plans for various sectors, including healthcare, education, social security, agriculture, industry, employment, and women empowerment.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is also the TMC's national president, emphasized the importance of having a vision before embarking on any mission. She stated that the party's manifesto was drafted after extensive consultations with various sections of society and prioritizes people's welfare above all else.

Providing 10 free gas cylinders per year to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.

Offering 5 kg of free ration to every ration card holder.

Guaranteeing 100 days of employment to all job card holders.

Providing a minimum daily wage of Rs 400 to all laborers across the country.

Constructing disaster-resilient houses for all poor families.

Offering a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Prices (MSP) to all farmers as per the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission.

The TMC is contesting the elections solo in West Bengal after failing to reach a seat-sharing agreement with its INDIA bloc partners in the state. The party is in staunch opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and has promised to repeal it if it comes to power at the Centre.

The manifesto also highlights the party's commitment to women empowerment and social justice. It promises to increase the representation of women in Parliament and state legislatures, as well as to provide equal opportunities for all citizens regardless of their caste, religion, or gender.

The TMC's manifesto has been met with mixed reactions. Some have praised the party's focus on people's welfare and its commitment to social justice, while others have criticized the party's lack of clarity on certain issues. The upcoming elections will be a test of the TMC's popularity and its ability to deliver on its promises.
