The state is witnessing a high-stakes election with 146 candidates vying for 32 assembly seats, including prominent figures like Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and former CM Pawan Kumar Chamling.

Prem Singh Tamang, leading the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha's bid for power, is contesting from two assembly seats, Rhenock and Soreng-Chakung. Tamang's wife, Krishna Kumari, is also contesting from Namchi-Singhithang, adding to the family's presence in the electoral fray. On the other hand, former CM Pawan Kumar Chamling is seeking a record ninth term as MLA, contesting from two assembly constituencies, Poklok-Kamrang and Namcheybung.

Noteworthy candidates in the Sikkim elections include SDF vice president and former India football captain Bhaichung Bhutia, who is trying his luck from the Barfung (BL) seat in Namchi district. The election landscape is filled with many multi-cornered contests, with different parties fielding candidates to compete for the 32 assembly seats. The Election Commission has ensured Assured Minimum Facilities and accessibility-friendly infrastructure for vulnerable groups like Persons with Disabilities and senior citizens at all polling stations.
