Delhi LG Orders Investigation into Allegations of Insulin Denial to CM Kejriwal

Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has taken action following accusations made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was not given insulin while in Tihar jail. The LG has requested the Director General (DG) of Prisons to submit a thorough and factual report on this matter within 24 hours to address concerns over Kejriwal's well-being.

The LG's office, in a statement released on Thursday night, conveyed serious apprehension about statements made by ministers and AAP leaders regarding the alleged absence of insulin provision to CM Kejriwal. Despite acknowledging that Prisons fall under the jurisdiction of the AAP government, the LG has assured that any negligence concerning the Chief Minister's health will not be tolerated.

Additionally, during a court hearing, it was mentioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that Kejriwal was consuming foods like mangoes, sweets, high-sugar tea, and aaloo poori, which could elevate his sugar levels and potentially influence his bail application. Amidst these claims, the court has requested a report from the jail authorities and scheduled a follow-up hearing for the next day. Kejriwal's legal counsel has withdrawn the request to consult his regular doctor via video conferencing and plans to submit an improved application.
