Union Home Minister Amit Shah Files Nomination from Gandhinagar for 2024 Lok Sabha Elections

Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently submitted his nomination for the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat, marking the commencement of his campaign for the 2024 elections. Shah conveyed his gratitude towards the people of the region for their continuous support throughout his 30-year journey from being a small booth worker to an MP, mentioning the completion of development projects totaling Rs 22,000 crore in Gandhinagar over the past five years.

Accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Shah emphasized the historical significance of the seat previously held by influential leaders such as LK Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, as well as being the voting constituency of Narendra Modi. Seeking re-election for a second term, Shah faces competition from Congress party secretary Sonal Patel, who submitted her nomination on April 16 to contest from the same constituency.

Having previously secured victory in the 2019 elections with a significant margin of over 5 lakh votes, Shah remains optimistic about his chances in the upcoming polls in a region historically dominated by the BJP. The Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency encompasses seven assembly segments, all currently held by the BJP, adding to the party's stronghold in the region. The voting for Gujarat's 26 seats is scheduled for a single phase on May 7, consolidating the state's electoral process.
