Congress slams Modi over "redistribution of wealth" remark, calls for inclusive economic growth

## Congress criticizes Modi's "redistribution of wealth" remark

The Congress party has intensified its attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his recent remarks about "redistribution of wealth." The party claims that Modi is deliberately misleading the public and diverting attention from real issues.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh stated that Modi conveniently avoids mentioning that over 40% of the wealth generated in India between 2012 and 2021 has been accumulated by just 1% of the population. He further highlighted that approximately 64% of the total Goods and Services Tax (GST) burden falls on the poor, lower middle class, and middle class.

Ramesh also criticized the government's sale of public assets and resources to a select few companies, arguing that this has led to increased monopolization and inflation. He pointed out the stark wealth disparity, where 21 billionaires possess more wealth than 700 million Indians.

The Congress believes that only an "INDIA bloc government" can deliver inclusive and sustainable economic growth. They emphasize the need for faster economic growth that benefits all sections of society, while also ensuring environmental sustainability.
