Congress Accuses BJP of Rolling Back Pro-People Schemes in Rajasthan

Congress Questions BJP's Rollback of Pro-People Schemes in Rajasthan

The Congress party has accused the BJP government in Rajasthan of rolling back pro-people schemes introduced by the previous Congress government. In a statement, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the BJP's decision to scale back these schemes, highlighting the benefits they provided to vulnerable populations in the state.

Ramesh listed several schemes implemented by the Congress government, including the Rajasthan Minimum Guaranteed Income Act, the addition of 25 extra days for MGNREGA, the Indira Gandhi Shahari Rojgar Yojana Act, the Rajasthan Platform Based Gig Workers (Registration and Welfare Act), and the Right to Health Act. He claimed that these schemes provided crucial protections to vulnerable populations in the state.

Ramesh further alleged that the BJP government has attempted to reduce the health coverage provided under the Chiranjeevi Yojana from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 5 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. He also pointed to allegations of corruption in the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) made by BJP leader and Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena.

Ramesh also raised concerns about the displacement of families due to the Isarda Dam project. He claimed that the BJP government has failed to adequately rehabilitate and resettle these families, despite their demands for fair compensation.

Ramesh concluded by urging Prime Minister Modi to break his silence on these issues and address the concerns of the people of Rajasthan. He questioned the BJP's commitment to pro-people policies and accused the government of prioritizing corruption and vindictiveness over the welfare of the state's citizens.
