The coalition alleges that Zhelyazkov's actions, including what they describe as a violation of the procedure for the early termination of the term of office of the head of the National Health Insurance Fund, Stanimir Mihaylov, demonstrate his alignment with the interests of a particular political group rather than serving the general public. Furthermore, the request for Zhelyazkov's resignation was endorsed not only by PP-DB but also by MPs from the parliamentary group of BSP for Bulgaria, showing a concerted effort to hold the Speaker accountable for his perceived actions.
Kiril Petkov emphasized that the call for Zhelyazkov's resignation has garnered support beyond just PP-DB, with the Vazrazhdane party also expressing the desire for the National Assembly Speaker to step down.
