Snowfall and Rain Hit Himachal Pradesh, Delighting Tourists

Recent weather conditions in Himachal Pradesh led to snowfall in the higher reaches and varying levels of rainfall across different districts in the state. The active Western disturbance in the region resulted in Lahaul-Spiti district receiving fresh snowfall, while areas like Kothi, Tisa, Gondla, Hansa, and Keylong recorded rainfall and snowfall measurements.

The snowfall and rainfall added to the scenic beauty of Shimla, delighting tourists like Ajay Kumar Jha who expressed excitement and happiness to be experiencing the wonderful weather and beauty of the hill station amidst the snowfall. As per Senior Scientist Sandeep Kumar Sharma, thunderstorm events were also noted in Mid-hill areas of Himachal Pradesh, with forecasts pointing to further light to moderate rain and snowfall in the coming days affecting various districts including Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu, Chamba, Solan, Sirmaur, Mandi, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, and Shimla.

Sharma mentioned that heavy rainfall was expected in districts like Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti, and Kangra, with weather conditions clearing up after April 30 and turning favorable from May 1 onwards, with an orange alert issued for the days leading up to April 30 in the entire state indicating the severity of the weather conditions.
