Turkish National Secures Release as Court Reduces Bail and Waives Certificate

A Delhi court has modified a bail order for a Turkish national who has been in jail since 2018. The man was granted bail in December 2023 but could not furnish the bail bond. The bond amount was initially set at Rs one lakh with two surety bonds of the same amount. This was later modified to Rs one lakh with one surety bond of the same amount. However, the accused was still unable to furnish the bond.

On April 27, 2024, the court further modified the bail conditions, reducing the bond amount to Rs 50,000 with one surety of the same amount. The court also waived the condition that the accused file a certificate of assurance from the Turkish embassy.

The accused's lawyer argued that he was unable to furnish the bond due to his poor financial condition. The court accepted this argument and reduced the bond amount. The court also noted that the accused had been in jail for a long time and that there was no evidence that he would abscond if released on bail.

The accused was finally released on bail on April 27, 2024.
