Mamata Banerjee Declares Opposition to CAA, NRC, and UCC in West Bengal

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's Stance on CAA, NRC, and UCC

On April 11, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee declared her firm opposition to the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC), and Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state.

Addressing a gathering in Kolkata on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, she cautioned against attempts to incite riots during elections and urged the attendees not to fall prey to such tactics.

"We will not accept the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, National Register of Citizens, and Uniform Civil Code. If we live unitedly, nobody will be able to harm us," Banerjee asserted.

She emphasized that her party's primary fight is against the BJP. "We will decide about the INDIA bloc later. But in Bengal, please see that no vote goes to any other party," the TMC supremo instructed.

Banerjee also criticized the BJP government at the Centre for its alleged misuse of central probe agencies against opposition parties.

Accompanied by TMC national general secretary and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee, the West Bengal CM reiterated her opposition to the CAA due to its connection to the NRC. She expressed her strong disapproval of detention camps, similar to those in Assam, in West Bengal.

"The CAA is related to NRC, that is why we are opposing it. We don't want detention camps like those in Assam," she declared.
