The Kyoto-based gaming giant expects to sell 13.5 million Switch units in the current financial year, aiming to maximize sales of the aging device. However, Nintendo remained tight-lipped about the new hardware, confirming that no details would be revealed at their upcoming Nintendo Direct presentation in June.

Industry experts anticipate that many users will postpone purchasing the current Switch in anticipation of the new model's release in 2025. Nintendo sold 15.7 million units of the Switch in 2023, a hybrid console that launched in March 2017. The company has since upgraded the device with an OLED model, which has seen consistent year-on-year sales growth.
