Kamala Harris Presidential Campaign Raises $310 Million in July, Outpacing Donald Trump

Kamala Harris' presidential campaign hit a major milestone in July by raising $310 million in donations, significantly surpassing the amount collected by her opponent, Donald Trump, in the same month. This fundraising surge was triggered by Harris' decision to run for president, boosting the campaign's financial resources to a total of $377 million in cash on hand, giving them a notable lead over Trump, who had $327 million in campaign funds.

A Politico report highlighted that the influx of funds has markedly improved the financial standing of the Democratic Party, which had faced financial difficulties recently. The Democrats' fundraising efforts were revitalized following setbacks for Joe Biden and his subsequent exit from the presidential ticket on July 21, with Kamala Harris' elevation leading to increased donor support and campaign contributions.

The significant amount raised by Harris' campaign, particularly with $150 million pledged from major Democratic donors to a super PAC and over $20 million collected from virtual fundraisers, showcases a strong base of support. The majority of donations, primarily from first-time donors, were $200 or less, with a noticeable increase in contributions from Gen Z and millennial supporters, indicating a diverse and mobilized coalition backing Harris. Campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez emphasized that this groundbreaking fundraising achievement reflects the momentum and readiness of the Harris coalition to defeat Trump in the upcoming election.
