Armed nail gun fired at FBI Cincinnati building, police chase suspect

An armed man flashing an AR-15 style rifle fired a nail gun into an FBI Cincinnati building Thursday morning, leading to a police pursuit and shots fired on an interstate, authorities said.

Two law enforcement sources told NBC News that a man got inside and fired a nail gun at personnel before fleeing in a car.

At around 9 AM this morning, an armed person attempted to breach the Visitor Screening Facility at FBI Cincinnati, according to a tweet from FBI Cincinnati just before noon. The subject fled onto Interstate 71 after an alarm and a response from FBI special agents. Interstate 71 was closed in both directions between about five exits, according to the Emergency Management Agency.

The agency warned people to stay in and lock their doors after being shot by law enforcement with a male suspect wearing a gray shirt and body armor.

The suspect was found but not in custody at about 12: 30, the agency said.

The LOCKDOWN is still in effect for 1 mile radius of Center Smith Roads, Clinton Co. Emergency Management Agency said on Facebook. If you are in the area, report anything suspicious to 911.
