The Supreme Administrative Prosecutor s Office is launching an investigation into the so-called golden passports after the matter was referred to the Movement for Rights and Freedoms by the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, the prosecutor s office has announced.
None of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms demands an investigation of every golden passport acquired by investment.
Inspections assigned to the State Agency for National Security, the Ministry of Justice, the Migration Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Justice are to check whether there are any violations in each of the cases under scrutiny related to Bulgarian citizenship acquired by investment by citizens of China and Russia. If violations are established, a proposal will be submitted to the President for the revocation of the acquired Bulgarian citizenship. If there is evidence of crime, the case will be referred to the appropriate prosecutor's office.
