Tesla has pulled away from Porsche, but the race has just started.
The Xenomaker's electric Taycan model line has outsold Tesla Model S and X by a better than two-to-1 margin in the first three quarters of 2021, which saw the brand's overall sales increase 13%
Porsche delivered 28,640 Taycans which are sold as a sedan and wagon, worldwide compared to 13,185 Tesla Model S sedans and Model X SUVs, which are measured in Tesla's reports.
The Porsche 911 has already exceeded its full-year 2020 result of 20,015 and passed another important model: the Taycan.
The classic Porsche sold 27,972 of its cars during the same period, an increase on the previous year by 10%. The Taycan also outsold 911 to 6,729) in the U.S. 7,228 to 7,289.
Both models were handily outdoned by Porsche's SUVs, the Cayenne and Macan, that posted global results of 62,415 and 61,944 through September.
