The tropical depression will continue to edge closer to the coast of Guangdong and strengthen slightly, according to the forecast track.

There will be squally showers and thunderstorms under the influence of its outer rainbands.

Showers will be heavy at times, said the HKO bulletin.

Winds will be strong offshore and on high ground and stronger later in the day.
