U.S. bans Chinese air carrier flights for 4 weeks

WASHINGTON, Aug 18 - The U.S. Transportation DepartmentU.S. Transportation Department said on Wednesday that it would suspend some Chinese air carrier flights for four weeks after the Chinese government imposed similar limits on four United Airlines flights.

United told China on Aug. 6 that it was imposing sanctions after it is said five passengers who traveled from Shanghai to San Francisco tested positive for COVID - 19 on July 21. The U.S. order said that the Department will limit over a four-week period each of four international carriers that provide scheduled China passenger service to a 40% passenger load factor on a single China-U. S. flight, over a half-month period.
