Ukraine to unveil NFT collection of Russian invasion

The Ukrainian government announced over the weekend that it will unveil a non-fungible NFT collection of the Russian invasion.

Ukraine's deputy minister for digital transformation, Alex Bornyakov, said the collection would be like a museum of Russian-Ukrainian war. We want to tell the world in the NFT format. Each token would feature a different art piece illustrating a news story related to the Russia-Ukraine war. Bornyakov explained that it takes time to get it to be cool, good-looking.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine last month, more than $100 million in donations have been sent to the war-torn country, including a CryptoPunk NFT valued at more than $200,000. Bornyakov said the donations have been used to buy vision goggles, military optics, bulletproof vests, packed lunches, medicine, and other military supplies, but no weapons.

Bornyakov tweeted that every helmet and vest purchased via virtual currency donations is saving Ukrainian soilders' lives.

The government canceled a high-profile airdrop earlier this month, giving donors access to more token. As typical for airdrops, the country was being inundated with micro-donations of negligible amounts from donors across the world who were trying to qualify for the promotion.

According to some reports, 95% of the donors of Ukraine were only sending 0.001 Ether or 0.01 Ether. Critics of the cancelled airdrop labeled it a rug-pull, but if Ukraine had offered the airdrop, it would have become the first country in the world to do so for crypto donors. In a bid to convince more Salvadorans to download the government'sBitcoin wallet, El Salvadoran airdropped $30 in Bitcoins to every adult who signed up for the country's wallet last year.
