Bosnia and Herzegovina President calls for stronger US involvement

The President of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Beirovi, pointed out at the meeting with the United States Congressman Michael Turner from the Federal State of Ohio, the importance of a stronger involvement of the US administration in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Beirovi pointed out that the strong support of the United States of America for BiH's entry into NATO and the European Union is a guarantee for peace and security in the region, especially since the new geopolitical circumstances dictate the need for a new and decisive engagement of the West towards BiH and the region.

A member of the BiH Presidency stated that sanctions against certain politicians in BiH are not the best solution, but they are necessary in cases when individuals, such as the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, threaten the foundations of the Dayton Peace Agreement.

It was stated in a statement from the BiH Presidency that he believes it is better to sanction irresponsible individuals than to allow them to endanger the peace process.

He thanked for the previous support and help in the reform efforts of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the way to Euro-Atlantic integration, the fight against corruption and the establishment of the rule of law.

Congressman Turner, along with Senator John McCain, is the most deserving member of Congress for the admission of Montenegro to NATO. He served as mayor of the city of Dayton during the negotiations on ending the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina at a military base on the outskirts of the city.
