5 arrested for alleged involvement in rioting in Singapore

SINGAPORE - Five men, aged between 16 and 21, have been arrested for their suspected involvement in a case of rioting, the Singapore Police Force SPF said on Saturday at around 4.45 am. The police received a call for help in the vicinity of Fullerton Road.

When officers arrived at the scene, a 17-year-old victim was found with multiple laceration wounds on his head, arms, shoulders and left knee.

He was unconscious to the hospital and regained consciousness. His condition is now stable, the police said.

Through ground investigations, follow-up investigations and police cameras, officers found the identities of the men involved and arrested them.

Four men were charged with the offense of rioting in court on Sunday.

Another man was arrested on Monday and will be charged with rioting on Wednesday.

Offenders can be jailed and caned for up to seven years if found guilty of rioting.
