Farmers from Tamil Nadu Protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi

Farmers representing Tamil Nadu gathered at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to push for improved crop prices and raise concerns about the river interlinking matter. Amid the protest, a small group, including a woman, made attempts to climb a mobile tower as a form of demonstration, prompting the police to intervene with the use of a fire brigade crane to help one protester descend safely.

According to officials, the farmers were vocal about their demands, which included a call for a double income from farm produce, a pension of Rs 5,000, individual insurance, and the interlinking of rivers across the country. Expressing their determination, the farmers stated that failure to address their grievances could lead to their willingness to contest the Lok Sabha elections against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Varanasi constituency. The Delhi Fire Services also played a role in responding to the situation, utilizing sky lifts to support the authorities in ensuring the safety and orderly conduct of the protest.
