VDG Member Killed in Udhampur Terrorist Attack, Operation to Nab Culprits Underway

Terrorists Attack Security Forces in Udhampur, VDG Member Killed

A Village Defence Guard (VDG) member was killed in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, after terrorists attacked security forces in the region. The incident occurred in Chochru Gala Heights, where a firefight erupted between the terrorists and security personnel.

The deceased VDG member has been identified as Mohammad Shareef, a resident of Lower Ponar, Basantgarh in Udhampur. He was injured during the exchange of fire and succumbed to his injuries.

Following the attack, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Udhampur-Reasi range, Rayees Mohd Bhat, stated that the operation to apprehend the terrorists is underway. Search parties are combing the area, supported by drone surveillance. Additionally, intelligence has been strengthened to track the movements of the terrorists.

Earlier, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, confirmed that the VDG member was hit by gunfire during the attack. He further stated that investigations and search operations are ongoing.

Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh expressed his appreciation for the Indian Army's swift deployment in the affected area. He also appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unconfirmed rumors.
