The recent transfer of ownership of Gallup International Balkan saw the founders Andrey Raichev and Kancho Stoychev selling their shares to Paxton Research, a joint stock company specifically established for this purpose. The new owners of Paxton Research, the conservative think-tank Research Centre for New Europe helmed by Borislav Tsekov, and the association Republican Centre led by Petar Kichashki, are now in charge of the polling agency's operations. According to Tsekov, the future plans for Gallup International Balkan involve restructuring it into a research center with a focus on three main areas.
The envisioned restructuring of Gallup International Balkan by its new owners includes the establishment of three distinct directions for the agency. Firstly, there will be a sociological research wing, continuing the agency's history of providing valuable insights and data. Secondly, there will be a dedicated department focusing on research in the field of constitutional law, planning to release a journal featuring contributions from scholars and professors from Bulgaria and the US. Additionally, a third direction is set to be formed in collaboration with US partners, aiming to create a center for monitoring anti-democratic ideologies and propaganda in Bulgaria. The financing for the acquisition was reportedly sourced from the successful international business ventures of Tsekov and Kichashki, as indicated on the Gallup International Balkan website.
