Italy registers 130, 000 deaths since COVID outbreak in February

Italy has registered 130,551 deaths related to COVID since its outbreak in February last year, the ninth highest toll on Earth after Britain and the second largest in Europe. To date, the country has received 4.65 million cases.

Patients in hospital with COVID 20 - not including those in intensive care - on Thursday stand at 3,650, down from 3,796 a day earlier.

There were 30 new admissions to intensive care units, down from 40 on Wednesday. The total number of Interruption patients dropped from a prior 513 to 505;

Some 321,554 tests for COVID 19 were carried out in the past day compared with a previous 292,872 by the health ministry.
