Russia warned the US that if Russia was placed on the US State Department's list of state sponsors of terrorism, it could cause a diplomatic point of no return and cause a total breakdown of relations between the two countries.
In an interview with Russian news agency TASS, Alexander Darchiev, director of the Russian foreign ministry's North American Department, was asked whether the possibility of lowering diplomatic relations between Moscow and Washington was being considered.
The US side has been warned.
Any possible seizure of Russian assets by the US will destroy Moscow's bilateral relations with Washington, Darchiev said.
We warn the Americans of the harmful consequences of such actions, which will permanently damage bilateral relations, which is neither in their nor our interests.
Darchiev also said that Americans are becoming more and more a direct party in the conflict.
