The Dow was down 1.95% after the market opening Monday, to 33,598. The NASDAQ fell 2.59% to 13,412 00 while the NASDAQ fell 2.59%. The S&P fell to 4,297, a decline of 2.29%. The US has the highest number of deaths and cases of coronaviruses in the world, reporting a total of 71,925, 930 cases with around 889,190 deaths. India reported a total of 39,543, 320 cases and 489,890 deaths, while Brazil reported over 24,044, 430 COVID 19 cases with 623,140 deaths. There were more than 5,615, 440 deaths of COVID 19 worldwide, with more than 352,362, 830 cases of COVID 19 in total.

Consumer staples shares fell by just 0.7% on Monday. Unilever PLC NYSE: UL was up 7% and British American Tobacco p.l. were the top gainers in the sector. BTI was up 3% on the NYSE.

Halliburton posted quarterly earnings of $0.36 per share, beating analysts estimates of $0.34 per share. The company's quarterly revenue was $4.28 billion, compared to expectations of $4.09 billion.

Halliburton raised its quarterly dividend from $0.045 to $0.12 per share.

Exterran Corporation NYSE: EXTN shares shot up 47% to $4.41 after the company said it would merge with Enerflex to create a premier integrated global provider of energy infrastructure.

The shares of Kohl's Corporation NYSE: KSS went up 30% to $61.09 after media reports indicated that multiple funds are interested in acquiring the company.

After declining about 12% on Friday, BT Brands, Inc. NASDAQ: BTBD shares gained 32% to $3.2096.

The PMI of the IHS Markit Eurozone fell to 51.2 in January from 53.1 in the previous month, while manufacturing PMI rose to 59 from 58. In January, the manufacturing PMI of IHS Markit France fell to 55.5 from 55.6 in December, while services PMI fell to 53.1 in January.

In January, the IHS Markit Germany manufacturing PMI rose to 60.5, while the PMI rose to 52.2. PMI of IHS Markit CIPS UK Services fell to 53.3 in January from 53.6 a month ago, while manufacturing PMI fell to 56.9 from 57.9.

The Chicago Fed National Activity Index fell to - 0.15 in December versus a revised reading of 0.44 in the earlier month.

In January, the PMI of IHS Markit Services fell to 50.9 from 57.6 in the previous month, while manufacturing PMI fell to 55 in January from 56.7 in December.

The Treasury is going to auction 3 and 6 month bills at 11: 30 a.m. The Treasury will auction 2 year notes at 1: 00 p.m.
