BJP's Piyush Goyal Asserts Commitment to Implement Uniform Civil Code

Union minister Piyush Goyal, who is BJP's candidate for the Mumbai North Lok Sabha seat, declared the party's intention to enforce the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in India if they secure a third term in office. The UCC aims to establish a uniform law applicable to all citizens of the nation, irrespective of their religious backgrounds, to cover personal matters such as inheritance, adoption, and succession.

Speaking at the Maharashtra BJP headquarters, Goyal expressed the party's determination to implement the UCC, citing the groundwork laid by the Uttarakhand government on this issue. He dismissed criticisms directed at the BJP's manifesto by opposition parties, labeling their actions as indicative of a defeatist attitude. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently launched the BJP's Lok Sabha poll manifesto, presenting his vision for a developed India and urging voters to grant his party another term to shape the nation's future.

Emphasizing the accomplishments of the BJP under Modi's leadership, Goyal praised the government's ability to make significant changes, such as the construction of a temple in Ayodhya for Ram Lalla after 500 years and the abrogation of Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted the party's parliamentary majority being utilized for crucial decisions like banning instant triple talaq, underlining the dedication to fostering change. Maharashtra is gearing up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, with polling in all six parliamentary seats in Mumbai scheduled for the last phase on May 20th.
