Apple to Boost Investment in Vietnam Amidst Supply Chain Shift

## Apple to Increase Investment in Vietnam

Apple CEO Tim Cook announced plans to increase investment in Vietnam during a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi. This announcement comes a day after Apple revealed its intention to boost spending on suppliers in the Southeast Asian nation.

Vietnam is already a crucial manufacturing hub for Apple, and the company has already invested approximately $15.84 billion, creating around 200,000 jobs. Apple manufactures iPads, AirPods, and Apple Watches in Vietnam, and suppliers for MacBooks are also investing in the country.

The Vietnamese government will establish a working group to support Apple's investment. Prime Minister Chinh also requested Apple's assistance in developing renewable energy and high-quality human resource training.

Apple's increased investment in Vietnam comes amidst rising tensions between the United States and China. Several industry sources have reported that suppliers to Apple's main vendors, such as Foxconn, are relocating or planning to relocate to Vietnam, shifting some activities out of China.

This development follows recent calls from activists urging Apple to address Vietnam's detention of climate experts.
