A Call for Unity and Resistance

On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed a gathering in Kolkata, delivering a powerful message of unity and resistance against divisive forces.

Banerjee declared her unwavering opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC), and Uniform Civil Code (UCC), stating that these measures would not be implemented in West Bengal. She urged the people to remain united and not fall prey to attempts to incite communal violence during elections.

"We will not accept the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, National Register of Citizens and Uniform Civil Code. If we will live unitedly, nobody will be able to cause harm to us," she asserted.

The Chief Minister also criticized the BJP government at the Centre for its misuse of central probe agencies against opposition parties. She emphasized the need for a united front against the BJP, stating that her party's fight is against the ruling party.

"We will decide about the INDIA bloc later. But in Bengal, please see that no vote goes to any other party," she appealed to the gathering.

Banerjee reiterated her opposition to the CAA, linking it to the NRC and expressing her concerns about the creation of detention camps.

"The CAA is related to NRC, that is why we are opposing it. We don't want detention camps like those in Assam," she declared.

Through her Eid speech, Mamata Banerjee delivered a strong message of unity and resistance, urging the people of West Bengal to stand together against divisive forces and protect the state's secular fabric.
