JERUSALEM, Oct 14 Reuters - Israeli soldiers shot and killed a Palestinian man who was throwing fire-bombs at cars near occupied West Bank on Thursday, the military said.

The Israeli ambassador to Palestine confirmed the man was arrested and that a second Palestinian was killed by the troops. It has no further details provided by Weber.

The military wrote on Twitter that the two suspects hurled a fire-bomb at a road leading to an Israeli settlement bloc near the Palestinian city of Bethlehem, endangering drivers.

Soldiers nearby opened fire to thwart the threat, the military said, and acted at the two men. One of the two was wounded and received medical treatment at the scene but succumbed to his wounds, the military said. The other man was arrested.

In the 1967 Middle East War Israel captured the West Bank and East Jerusalem along with the Gaza Strip. Palestinians want an independent state of these territories. US-negotiated peace talks collapsed between the sides in 2014.
