UAE Food Bank's "Cook of Thousand Meals" Initiative Nourishes Communities During Ramadan

The UAE Food Bank, in collaboration with Taya Art Production, launched the "Cook of Thousand Meals" initiative, aiming to provide 20,000 meals for Iftar and Suhoor during Ramadan. The program was carried out in Hatta and Za'beel in Dubai, with over 30 volunteers assisting in the preparation, cooking, and packaging of the meals.

This initiative aligns with the Food Bank's goal of distributing 5 million meals during Ramadan. It aims to foster collaboration among Emirati chefs and residents, promoting a sense of community responsibility and cooperation. The program also emphasizes the importance of reducing food waste and distributing surplus food to those in need.

Manal Bin Yaroof, Head of the Executive Team of the UAE Food Bank, highlighted the Bank's commitment to providing meals to over half a million families and 3 million workers during Ramadan. She emphasized the importance of collaboration with private sector partners to promote community responsibility and volunteerism.

Ibrahim Ali Khadem, Program Manager, reported that the first phase of the program in Hatta distributed over 8,700 meals, while the second and third phases in Za'beel Park exceeded 12,000 meals. These events were supported by private food institutions and companies that provided necessary materials and equipment.

During Ramadan, the UAE Food Bank aims to provide 166,666 meals daily through various initiatives, including the "Your Iftar is on Us" campaign, the "No for Wasting Food" initiative, and the "Food Parcel" program. These initiatives will be supported by over 350 strategic partners from food establishments, hotels, and companies.
