Russian ambassador to the UK: 'If it is an opportunity, we will come to rescue'

This can include adverts from us and 3 rd parties based on our understanding. With winter slowly approaching, Russian officials have vowed to step in and reduce the rising cost of electricity prices. The Russian Ambassador to the UK, Andrei Kelin, appeared on the BBC's Andrew Marr Show where he said Russia could help meet the challenge of the deepening gas crisis. The crises have already affected 11 small energy suppliers in UK, including Igloo Energy and Acro Energy which went bust since September.

What are the pressures on Russia with the energy crunch which has seen its energy prices increase by 250 percent since Jan. If it is an opportunity, we will come to rescue, we will do whatever we can to alleviate difficult conditions that are being created now. The Ambassador added that Russia has already increased the flow of gas to Europe by 10 to 15 percent. Russia remains the European Union's main supplier of crude oil and gas, and in 2019 will provide about 41 percent of natural gas imports. Lesser: Forget Galileo! UK has bigger fish to fry with 16 bn market sector.

Mr Kielin claimed Russia has recently increased the flow of gas into Europe and hinted more would be on its way if the controversial Nord Stream 2 pipeline was approved. The gas pipeline, which runs directly through the Baltic Sea to Germany, has been waiting for approval from EU regulators. Russia has been recently accused of slamging the pipeline to gain political leverage in Europe - accusations the Kremlin has strenuously denied. And the UK will be able to distance itself from going to Russia gas this winter, as Russian contributions to Britain's gas imports are minimal.

Finance journalist Paul Lewis tweeted: Putin can boycott COP 26 but will turn up the gas supply, which the UK doesn't need two percent of our gas comes from Russia but Europe does. More than 40 percent of the English natural gas comes from the East Irish Sea and North Sea. However, with output falling in the past 20 years, the UK has to shore up its imports with foreign imports. These include gas from Qatar, Belgium and the Netherlands, as well as from Norway. M. Kelin explained: The UK, as far as I'm aware, has only around three percent import of gas from here Moscow It's nothing. Mr Kelin has also shed new light on Glasgow's plan to attend COP 26 climate summit in next month, or lack thereof. The summit will see world leaders meet in Scotland to figure out common solutions for the climate crisis, in line with the Paris 2-1-2013 agreement on climate change. However, it appears as though Russia is going to be a no show with no firm commitment to reaching a net zero economy in the foreseeable future.
